Performance collaboration with Lucy Marriott
Our work was born from a desire to provoke, unsettle and connect to a deeper sense of our erotic power and knowledge, the erotic being the force which animates. We respond to each other’s bodies, using our environment, costume and objects to inform our movement, allowing the performance to unfold and reveal itself as we move. We push into the uncomfortable spaces of our urges and perversions wanting to burrow deeper and tap into our non-rational, embodied knowledge. These performances / perversions / provocations have so far taken place in queer club spaces, in woodland, in mud and most recently in the folds of natural caves. We move within these caves, our temporary fleshy forms inhabiting ancient spaces, channeling energies of past rituals. We play with our impermanence and like the cave we transform, reveal and echo. We see and explore the body as cave, using an endoscope camera to delve into the fleshy inner parts of our bodies, using the surface of our skin to transform the objects we work with. Our heat, our flesh, our nails, our teeth bursts balloons, melts ice, presses against each other, slips, scars, stretches. What emerges from these collaborative encounters can be playful and absurd, at times intense and challenging.
